Learn how to use the OPQ

The Observing Practice Quality (OPQ) tool is used to assess the quality of support provided to a person with an intellectual disability.

The OPQ can be used as a guide for observing staff practice, evaluating the quality of support, and providing feedback to staff to develop their practice.

It is designed for use by:

 

  • frontline managers

  • practice coaches

  • quality and safeguarding teams

  • service auditors

  • community visitors

Purpose of this website

 

This website provides training in use of the OPQ tool.  It explains how to observe staff practice and complete the OPQ.  The training includes videos and text that explain key concepts and how to use the tool.

How to download the OPQ app and register an account

About the OPQ

 

The OPQ tool and training were developed by the Living with Disability Research Centre at La Trobe University (2024).  The OPQ was developed from research on Active Support.  Learn more about Active Support
